Happy Easter weekend! Since the Easter Bunny will be amusing the kids this weekend, I figured we’d have a Healthy Living Tip about what he carries in his basket………….eggs!
The BBC’s GoodFood.com says that “Eggs are a very good source of inexpensive, high quality protein. More than half the protein of an egg is found in the egg white along with vitamin B2 and lower amounts of fat and cholesterol than the yolk. The whites are rich sources of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper”. I typically buy egg beaters or egg whites in a large milk carton at the grocery store when I’m working out to microwave every morning for breakfast, which increases the protein synthesis to muscle fibers, and I can add whatever I want to it before heating it up (i.e. salsa, goat cheese, etc).
